Bois Locker Room: Snapchat screenshot of ‘gangrape’ unrelated & old, says police

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police probe into the Bois Locker Room case has now revealed that the screenshot where threats of aggravated sexual assault against a girl were being made, was in fact from Snapchat with police claiming that this chat and its participants are in “no way related to the Bois Locker Room case”.

In fact, police officials had earlier said that they were probing chats on other social media platforms and after seeking information from Snapchat, police have now claimed that the screenshot where threats of “gangrape” were made was in fact between a minor girl and another boy.

In a statement, released on Sunday evening, DCP Anyesh Roy (CYPAD) said that the threats of gangrape were being made by one “Siddharth” but the probe had revealed that a minor girl had created an account by that name to make such threats about herself to check the “character of the boy” when she is threatened, as per police.

The police added that the boy in the chat had disengaged and had then taken a screenshot and sent it to the girl and other friends of his. Since the girl knew that she was the one who had posed as a boy to send these messages, she did not make the screenshot public, according to police.

The DCP added that one of the other friends had shared the screenshot in several groups quite a while ago. When the Bois Locker Room case came to light, this screenshot was added to the mix of screenshots from the Instagram group chat, police said, adding that the Bois Locker Room probe is continuing.
