Special CPS to look after treatment of personnel

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Wednesday said that they have formed a team under Special Commission­ers of Police which will ensure proper treatment of their personnel during COVID19 pandemic.

“Delhi Police Commission­er SN Shrivastav­a personally spoke to a few private hospitals and on his request, they have placed a few beds at the disposal of the Delhi Police to meet emergency admissions,” an official said.

According to police, a team led by Taj Hassan, Special CP (Traffic) and Nuzhat Hassan, Special CP (Women Safety) has been created to oversee the admission of police personnel in such new facilities and ensure that police personnel get adequate relief in getting admission in critical cases.

Police said that the dedicated police ambulances for shifting COVID-19 positive police personnel will be used for a speedy transport facility both for the personnel and their families. “It has been emphasised to ensure that all police personnel are treated well and taken good care to boost the overall preparedne­ss of the force in facing this challenge,” the official said.

So far over 140 personnel have been tested positive for COVID-19. Out of them, 35 have recovered and resumed duties while a constable died due to the virus last week.

Recently, there has been a rise in the incidence of COVID-19 infections in Delhi. As a result of this, difficulti­es are being faced in the admission of Corona warriors in the dedicated Covid government hospitals of Delhi. “Police functionar­ies are deployed at sensitive locations like containmen­t zones, Covid hospitals, quarantine facilities while performing selfless service. There is a need to look after them and their families too,” police said.

The policemen who are COVID-19 positive are currently undergoing treatment at government hospitals namely Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (Dilshad Garden), Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, AIIMS (New Delhi), AIIMS (Jhajjar), Safdarjung Hospital and other hospitals like Max Hospital (Saket), Apollo Hospital, Maa Durga Charitable Trust Hospital (Model Town), Ayurvedic Tibbia College (Karol Bagh), Chaudhary Braham Prakash Ayurvedic Hospital (Najafgarh), PGI (Sonipat) and Esic(sahibabad).
