Police arrests man for hiring contract killer to murder wife

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Ghaziabad Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife with the help of two contract killers in Loni area on Tuesday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Divya Rana (33), a resident of Yamuna Vihar colony in Loni and was into property dealing along with pursuing LLB from an open university.

Cops said that her husband Saleem had given a contract of Rs 2 lakhs to two persons for killing Divya.

Bijendra Singh Bhadana, Station House Officer (SHO) of Loni police station said that a few days ago, one of the killers met Divya as a customer and showed interest in buying a property in Loni.

“On Tuesday, the deceased, her husband Saleem and one of the contract killers were going to visit the property in Chirori Village in Ghaziabad. The car was being driven by Saleem while Divya sat on the adjacent seat and the killer was behind the seat of the driver,” the SHO said.

“As the car reached a secluded spot on the way to Chirori Village, the killer opened fire on Divya which hit in her abdomen.

Saleem took her to a nearby hospital where doctor declared her dead. He told police that some criminals stopped the car and opened fire on them during robbery bid,” the SHO added.

Meanwhile, when police found irregulari­ties in the statement given by Saleem, they interrogat­ed him following which he confessed to have committed the crime.

“Accused Saleem told police that Divya was his third wife and the couple got married three years ago.

Divya wanted to live separately from him and asked him for divorce.

She was also pressuring him to transfer a plot measuring 12 acre in Loni to her as she planned to sell the plot to someone at high price,” the SHO said while adding that an FIR under Section 302, 34 and 120B of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Saleem and two other persons.
