Paramilita­ry tally now 840 with 18 recoveries

NEW DELHI: More than 840 cases have been reported from paramilita­ry since COVID-19 outbreak in India. According to forces, 18 personnel have recovered from deadly virus whereas six of their men have died.

According to the latest data, 60 fresh cases were reported from paramilita­ry forces including 41 from CISF, BSF-13 cases and six from CRPF.

CISF on Wednesday said that in last 24 hours 37 COVID19 cases were reported from their unit at Garden Reach Shipbuilde­rs and Engineers Limited (GRSEL) in Kolkata. Earlier one CISF personnel of the same unit had died.

"Earlier few men were tested positive, as precaution­s we conducted medical tests of all our men and later they were tested positive. We can't say what was the exact source of infection," an official said. Meanwhile, four personnel deployed in Delhi Metro were also tested positive. CISF PRO Hemender Singh said that they are taking proper precaution­s for their personnel.

Sachin Badshah, DIG, (CISF Delhi Metro) told Millennium Post that they have form What's App group of their personnel who were affected by the virus for interactio­n and morale-boosting. "Soon we will also install tents at various locations of the city to keep those personnel who are currently on leave and will join the force in coming weeks," he said. Sources said that CISF is also planning to write to Kendriya Vidyalaya authoritie­s for providing them schools to keep their men for some period.

Since COVID-19 outbreak, CISF witnessed 115 positive cases in which three recovered and three died due to virus. According to an official, there are 109 active cases in CISF including 39 from Kolkata 32 in Mumbai followed by 31 from Delhi, five in Ahmedabad and two in Greater Noida.

On Wednesday, 13 new cases including 10 from Delhi and one each from Kolkata, Tripura, were reported from BSF and six personnel, posted in Kolkata and part of the recent entourage of a central inter-ministeria­l team (IMCT) to West Bengal were discharged from hospital. According to data, since COVID-19 outbreak, over 300 cases reported from BSF, in which nine of their personnel recovered and two deaths were reported.

"I have talked to more 20 personnel of BSF who are under treatment at different hospitals in RH Greater Noida, AIIMS Jhajjar, Calcutta and Agartala Tripura. They are happy with the treatment and in healthy conditions," DG (BSF) SS Deswal told Millennium Post.

According to CRPF, six fresh cases were reported from the force. All were deployed in Delhi. Since COVID-19 outbreak, 247 cases were reported in the force. An official said that there are 242 active cases. Four of their men have recovered from virus whereas one sub-inspector died due to COVID-19.

No new cases were reported from ITBP and SSB. Since Corona outbreak, 159 cases were reported from ITBP in which one personnel recovered and 21 cases were reported from SSB including one recovery.
