3 new Covid +ve cases among CISF personnel deployed at IGI Airport

NEW DELHI: As per the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) data, three new cases were reported in the last 24 hours among personnel deployed at the Indira Gandhi Internatio­nal (IGI) Airport.

As many as 18 personnel were found Corona positive from the same unit on Tuesday. The force clarified that all 21 infected personnel are under strict quarantine for the last 10 days and are not reporting on duty. “They were part of contact tracing of two earlier positive cases among CISF personnel in this unit. All such contact-traced personnel were kept quarantine­d in a separate building for the last 10 days,” CISF official said.

According to an airport official, on Wednesday, there were arrivals of 129 flights at IGIA whereas 129 departed from the airport. Till 8 pm on Tuesday, there was no cancellati­on. “Things have now become normal,” the official said.

As many as 25 flights, which were supposed to arrive or depart from the IGI Airport in Delhi on Tuesday, were cancelled. According to an official, flights were cancelled due to operationa­l reason.

Meanwhile, most of the people raised queries related to quarantine rules, travel pass, flight cancellati­on. One Vikash Nayak through Twitter asked Noida Police that he will go from Noida from Delhi airport on May 29, then any pass will be valid. One Rohit Mangal had also the same issue related to e pass.

One Sibasish Roy said: “It was too congested in the waiting hall for gate 44 A T3. There was no order and the staff seemed they didn’t care about social distancing and all other rules.” The Delhi Airport official has asked Roy to give them the details so that they can look into it.

Cab aggregator Ola has resumed services at the IGIA in the national Capital. Specially trained staff will be deployed at the Delhi airport to perform car fumigation, temperatur­e checks for driver-partners and car audit before every pick-up.
