CAPITAL SEES 1,330 NEW CASES

NEW DELHI: Since more than one thousand cases recorded in a single day, number of COVID19 cases crossed 26,000-mark on Friday. The data released by the Delhi government witnessed a jump in last 24-hour till Thursday midnight as 1,330 positive cases recorded and the total number of cases so far reached 26,334. In Thursday’s data, total number of positive cases was 1,359 which became the second highest spike since Corona outbreak has surfaced. Notably, Delhi had reported 1,000 or more fresh cases every day since last few days.

Number of deaths in the city jumped from previous 650 to 708 as 58 more deaths have been added in the list. Out of the total added death toll, 25 are from last 24 hours while the remaining 33 are compilatio­n of deaths took place earlier. “The report, however, said that the cumulative death figures refer to fatalities where primary cause of death was found to be the infection, as per the report of the Death Audit Committee on the basis of case sheets received from various hospitals,” said the report.

The Delhi government’s data said that among the total 26,334 positive cases, only 15,311 cases are active cases in nature. Out of these active cases, 10,255 cases are at home-isolation after detecting very mild and mild symptoms and advised by the Health Department. These patients have been recuperati­ng at homes under supervisio­n of health staff, as claimed by the government earlier.

As far as recovery of patients is concerned, Delhi has recorded recovery of 417 in last 24-hour period. With this, total number of recovered patients reached 10,315 in the city. Total number of tests reached 2,41,693 from previous 2,36,506. Meanwhile, total number of containmen­t zones in the city now stands at 162, according to the Delhi government on Friday.
