1,320 new cases in city take tally to over 27K

NEW DELHI: Delhi recorded 1,320 fresh Coronaviru­s cases on Saturday, taking the COVID19 tally in the city to over 27,500 while the death toll due to the disease mounted to 761, authoritie­s said. In a bulletin issued on Saturday, the Delhi health department said the death toll from coronaviru­s infection has risen to 761 and the total number of cases mounted to 27,654.

A total of 53 fatalities were reported on June 5, which took place between May 25 and June 5, the bulletin said, adding that 20 of these deaths took place on June 3 and 19 on June 4.

It, however, said the cumulative death figures refer to fatalities where the primary cause of death was found to be COVID19, as per the report of the Death Audit Committee on the basis of case sheets received from various hospitals.

As far as number of beds, their availabili­ty and vacant beds are concerned, out of total 8,637 beds in various COVID hospitals 4,225 are occupied while 4,412 are vacant. In total 472 ICUS, 172 are occupied while 296 are vacant. In dedicated COVID healthcare centres, 176 are occupied in total 285 beds. Out of 5,292 beds in dedicated COVID care centres, 1,271 are occupied while remaining 4,021 are vacant.

The Delhi government’s data said that among the total 27,654 positive cases, only 16,229 cases are active cases in nature. Out of these active cases, 11,267 cases are at home-isolation after detecting very mild and mild symptoms and advised by the Health Department. These patients have been recuperati­ng at homes under supervisio­n of health staff, as claimed by the government earlier.

As far as recovery of patients is concerned, Delhi has recorded recovery of 349 in last 24-hour period. With this, total number of recovered patients reached 10,664 in the city. Total number of tests reached 2,46,873 from previous 2,41,693.
