With 1K cases per day, Covid-19 tally in Capital nears 30K-mark

NEW DELHI: As the city recorded over 1,000 cases in one day period till Sunday midnight, total number of COVID19 cases crossed 29,000-mark on Monday. The data released by the Delhi government witnessed a jump in last 24-hour of 1,007 positive cases recorded and the total number of cases so far reached 29,943.

On Sunday, a total of 1,282 cases were reported while on Saturday, total number of positive cases was 1,320 and in Friday’s data it had witnessed an increase of 1,330 cases. Notably, Delhi had reported 1,000 or more fresh cases every day since last few days.

Number of deaths in the city jumped from previous 812 to 874 as 62 more deaths have been added in the list. Out of the total added death toll, two are from last 17 hours while the remaining 45 are compilatio­n of deaths took place earlier. The cumulative death figures refer to fatalities where primary cause

of death was found to be the infection, as per the report of the Death Audit Committee on the basis of case sheets received from various hospitals.

As far as number of beds, their availabili­ty and vacant beds are concerned, out of total 8,575 beds in various COVID hospitals 4,413 are occupied while 4,162 are vacant. In total 512 ICUS, 248 are occupied while 264 are vacant. In dedicated COVID healthcare centres, 190 are occupied in total 95 beds. Out of 5,985 beds in dedicated COVID care centres, 1,532 are occupied while remaining 4,453 are vacant.

The Delhi government’s data said that among the total 29,943 positive cases, only 17,712 cases are active cases in nature. Out of these active cases, 13,405 cases are in home isolation after detecting very mild and mild symptoms and advised by the Health Department. These patients have been recuperati­ng at homes under supervisio­n of health staff, as claimed by the government earlier.

As far as recovery of patients is concerned, Delhi has recorded recovery of 358 in last 24-hour period. With this, total number of recovered patients reached 11,357 in the city. Total number of tests reached 2,55,625.
