Since COVID-19 outbreak, CAPF saw over 1,600 cases & 1,196 recoveries

NEW DELHI: Since COVID19 outbreak, more than 1,600 personnel from paramilita­ry forces have tested positive for the novel Coronaviru­s. Meanwhile, 1,196 have also recovered from the deadly virus while 12 jawans lost their lives due to pandemic. According to data, currently there are 464 active cases in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFS). There are several COVID-19 cases in paramilita­ry forces where the source of infection remains unclear.

CRPF on Monday recorded another COVID-19 death, taking the total number of fatalities in the force due to the novel coronaviru­s to four. Officials said the jawan, a constable working as a nursing assistant in the 90th battalion in Anantnag, died at the hospital in Srinagar on Sunday night.

He was detected with coronaviru­s infection on June 5 and was admitted to the hospital with a condition of acute respirator­y problem. The jawan hailed from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh and had joined the CRPF in 1996, the officials said. As per the data, currently, there are 155 active cases in CRPF while 345 personnel have recovered from the virus.

According to an official, since COVID-19 outbreak, about 531 personnel of BSF were affected by the deadly virus in which 425 have recovered. Two deaths were also reported in May. "Currently there are 104 active cases in BSF," the data shows.

As many as 325 personnel from the CISF were tested positive for the virus. There are 112 active cases while 199 have recovered in the CISF. Four deaths have also been reported from the force.

In ITBP, about 214 COVID19 cases were reported. The number of active cases in the force is 27 and 186 of its personnel have recovered. "24 cases are from Delhi, one each from Rupai, Shivpuri and Tezpur. Condition of all admitted is stable," an ITBP official said. One jawan also died in the force due to COVID-19.

According to SSB data, as many as 98 personnel were affected by the virus in which 31 have recovered. "Currently there are 64 active cases in the force. One death was also reported due to the virus," data shows.
