Precaution­s taken as COVID cases grip Gurugram Police

GURUGRAM: Cases of COVID-19 have emerged from the Gurugram Police Commission­er’s office and the police lines area. As per the official data, there are already 30 police officials who have got infected with the virus.

The district Health department has begun screening 450 personnel deployed across the city on lockdown duty. Officials said that these personnel will be screened thrice in the next 14 days. According to the Health department officials, conducting a screening every fifth day would help in identifyin­g patients with symptoms.

As per the officials, the testing will be done three times. The second tests of COVID19 positive cases will be done within four days after the first test is being conducted.

There are, however, complaints that despite being at a risk a large number of police officials are not being tested.

Meanwhile, a small medical facility of 200-bedded quarantine centre has also been set up for the police officials affected by COVID-19.

The quarantine centre has the facility to accommodat­e asymptomat­ic patients and also has an isolation ward for those who have symptoms. Police officials said they have converted two newly-constructe­d towers at police lines into a quarantine facilities.

There is also a special arrangemen­t made for children and women at the police lines if any personnel’s family members are found positive. According to Gurugram Police, over 400 police officials deployed in the containmen­t zones have been provided with the PPES kits.
