CISF JAWAN DIES OF COVID-19

NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official has succumbed to COVID-19, taking the total number of deaths in the paramilita­ry force to 5. This was the 13th death reported among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFS). According to data, since COVID-19 outbreak, 1,733 cases were reported from forces in which 1,215 jawans have recovered. Currently, there are 505 active positive cases in CAPFS.

According to CISF, the deceased head constable was posted in the 1st reserve battalion of the force based in Madhya Pradesh Barwaha town of Khargone district. He was admitted to a hospital for an anaemic condition and had undergone major surgery on May 23. The jawan was found positive on June 7. He expired during treatment. At present, there are 149 active cases in CISF, 217 personnel have recovered from the virus and five deaths have been reported.

There are 152 active Corona cases in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). “As many as 353 personnel have recovered from the virus and four deaths have been reported,” the official said, adding that three new positive cases and eight fresh recoveries were reported in last 24 hours.

According to the official, one new case and three fresh recoveries were reported from the Border Security Force (BSF). Since COVID-19 outbreak, about 535 personnel were affected by the deadly virus in which 428 have recovered. Two deaths were also reported in May. “Currently there are 105 active cases in BSF,” the data shows.

Two new COVID-19 cases were reported from the Indotibeta­n Border Police (ITBP) in the last 24 hours. About 216 cases were reported after COVID-19 outbreak. The number of active cases in the force is 29 and 186 of its personnel have recovered since COVID-19 outbreak. An official said, “24 cases are from Delhi, one each from Tinsukia hospital, Shivpuri, Madurai, Rajnandgao­n and Tezpur. Condition of all admitted is stable,” an ITBP official said. One jawan also died in the force.

According to Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), as many as 102 personnel were affected by the virus in which 31 have recovered. “Currently there are 70 active cases in the force. One death was also reported due to the virus,” data shows. In the last 24 hours, four new cases were reported in the force.
