Ggm: Affluent residents object to isolation centres
GURUGRAM: The Gurugram District Administration is now looking to use residential community centers, guesthouses and even small hotels as isolation centres for a large number of cases now coming from the urban slums of the city, but have started facing resistance from affluent residents who live in the neighbourhoods where these isolation centres are being planned.
Residents of Sector-45 and Sector-46 raised objections over some of the guesthouses in their areas being used as isolation centers. Earlier, residents of DLF Phase-1 and Phase-2 also protested over the move of turning the community centers into community centers. Many of them say that these isolation centres will increase cases in their colonies.
There are now a large number of cases that are being reported from densely populated and slum clusters in Gurugram. Living in the cramped-up spaces where at least six to eight persons are often found living in one room, the slums in the city are fertile ground for spreading the virus among a large number of people. As per officials,
large-scale quarantine centres are being prepared to ensure that there are proper social distancing norms that are followed and which contain the spread of the virus.
Taking cognizance of the challenges for patients under home quarantine there are also plans to accommodate some of the patients in these centres. There are 1,928 patients in Gurugram as of now have been placed in home quarantine as they have shown mild symptoms.
Not only government agencies but even Private hospitals are now trying to find
locations in other areas where they can provide treatment to patients suffering from COVID-19.
