NCB arrests two Nigerian nationals with drugs
NEW DELHI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday said that they have arrested two Nigerian nationals with drugs from Delhi. Investigators claimed that the arrested criminals are part of a drug trafficking syndicate spread across Delhi-ncr, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Mumbai and Nigeria.
The accused identified as O Kennedy (36) and K Ekechukwu (33) were arrested by the agency from Uttam Nagar and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, respectively.
NCB has recovered 15 kg of ephedrine, which is illegally used to manufacture methamphetamine and 260 gm of heroin. The arrest was made by the team led by Zonal Director (NCB) KPS Malhotra.
Deputy Director General (NCB) Rajesh Nandan Shrivastava said the arrested Nigerian nationals were major suppliers of drugs in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi-ncr.
"K. Ekechukwu has been supplying drugs to his customers regularly in which the quantity ranges from 20 Gms to 500 Gms. It was learnt that his customers from Himachal have also been supplying Charas in-lieu of their drug trade," he said.
According to officials K. Ekechukwu disclosed the name of his other associates as well as suppliers of drugs. Kingsley admitted to have been ferrying contraband from New Delhi to Mumbai and there on sending the same to Nigeria.
"Though the possibility of illegal factories of Methamphetamine in and around Mumbai has not been ruled out. The documents verification of Kennedy and Kingsley revealed that they have been staying in India without valid passports and visas," the official said. As per the criminal antecedents' records in India it was found that both have past involvement in criminal cases and were out on bail.
Further probe is underway in the latest case and the NCB is looking for the associates of the arrested Nigerians, he said.
