Nigerian national arrested for killing infant daughter

GREATER NOIDA: Gautam Buddh Nagar police have now arrested a 30-year-old Nigerian National who allegedly killed his three-month-old daughter at Imperial Society in EcotechIII area of Greater Noida on Monday morning. Cops said that the accused was under mental stress over his financial condition from past few days. The accused has been identified as Ozioma Declan, from IMO state in Nigeria but presently lived at flat number A-204 of the society.

His wife told police that the girl woke up early and was crying. Hearing her cries, Declan also woke up and was irritated. He picked up the girl and tossed her on the ground before throwing her off the second floor of the building. By the time her mother could have intervened, the girl was thrown out of the window and died on the spot.

The mother immediatel­y informed police and an FIR was registered. “An FIR for murder has been registered against the accused and he has been arrested. Preliminar­y investigat­ions showed that he was under mental stress due to financial crisis and committed crime under fit of rage. He was produced before the magistrate and sent to jail.

Further investigat­ions into the case are underway” said a senior police officer.

Declan works into providing hairs for wig manufactur­ing companies in Nigeria and used to collect hairs from the local barber shops and sell it to the companies in Nigeria. Since lockdown was into force and barber shops are shut, he was finding it hard to earn for his livelihood.
