All party meet: BJP and AAP say will work together; Cong lashes out at both parties
NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Monday said that the Delhi government will conduct about 18,000 tests per day from June 20 to detect Coronavirus infection in the city. This statement came after Singh attended an allparty meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. While the main opposition Delhi BJP has agreed to fight the pandemic together with the AAP government; Congress blamed both the Bjp-ruled Centre and Aap-rule Delhi government for the case surge.
Singh said it was decided in the meeting that politics should be kept away in fighting the pandemic. He said increasing number of hospital beds for coronavirus patients was also discussed in the meeting. Gupta said a Central team will give a report on capping private hospital charges after which action will be taken to control arbitrary rates charged by them. The party also demanded halving the lab test charges for COVID-19, he said.
Singh said that political party volunteers will be roped in to assist the medical facilities and ambulance timing will be reduced from 36 mins to 20 mins. The Rajya Sabha MP also said that the government has decided to appoint IAS officers to monitor the central, state and private hospitals in the national capital for the Covid19 treatment.
The Congress leader said,
“As the temperature of Delhi is soaring we have asked the government to look for other arrangements instead of isolation ward coaches.” Kumar accused the AAP government of not completing the three hospital projects in the city which could have added over 2,900 beds.
Kumar gave 11 suggestions at the all-party meeting with Home Minister Shah for effective tackling of the virus, including universal testing. Delhi Congress will stage a protest against BJP and AAP for failure of their governments in tackling the pandemic in the city, across 1,000 locations on Tuesday, he said.
