Budding singer, composer, in dire need of money, held for murder

NEW DELHI: For Vicky and Santosh (budding singer and composer in Bhojpuri music), lockdown brought trouble as their business was not flourishin­g in Bihar. Their situation made them travel to Delhi with the hope that they can earn some money but in the city, the duo was arrested in the murder case of another music composer in Mohan Garden, Dwarka. The duo told police that the deceased Mukesh Choudhary, who lived in Dwarka district, was not paying them even after forming a partnershi­p in singing, composing Bhojpuri songs. Deputy Commission­er of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that Santosh is a music composer of Bhojpuri songs and runs a Youtube channel with more than 2 lakh subscriber­s. “The other accused, Vicky C is a budding Bhojpuri singer who used to work for Santosh. Due to lockdown, their business was not flourishin­g in Bihar so duo came to Delhi with a proposal to start a joint venture with the deceased Mukesh for the purpose of earning money,” he said. Santosh further disclosed that he had shared Password and user ID of his Youtube channel with Mukesh, who deleted his uploaded songs and blocked his channel site.

“Santosh had to return Rs 80,000 rupees to one Uday Shankar as rent amount for his office accommodat­ion in Bihar. Vicky C has also recorded one song with Mukesh, which was released but he did not receive any money for the same. He recorded another song but Mukesh kept it stored in his computer deliberate­ly and did not release the song on Youtube,” police said. Vicky C requested many times but Mukesh did not give him any money.“both were in need of money but Mukesh was regularly harassing them. Hence, both planned to kill Mukesh and to loot the music instrument­s worth more than Rs 2 lakh for returning the loan of Uday Shankar,” police said.
