Bailed out owing to COVID-19, two men arrested for robbery
NEW DELHI: After coming out of jail on parole, Raju and Ankit did not mend their ways and continued to commit crimes and at last, were arrested from Paprawat Road in the Najafgarh area in a robbery case by the Delhi Police.
Police said that they got a complaint from one Aram Das, a vegetable seller, in which he stated that on June 26, he was going to Najafgarh Mandi to purchase vegetables. "When he reached near 25 Foota Road at Goyla Dairy, three boys came on a black colour motorcycle and after beating him took away Rs. 3,000 cash," police said. During the investigation, they were arrested from Paprawat Road. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said, "Both accused came out of jail during the lockdown and again started committing crimes for their livelihood."

Police revealed that 83 arrested people were granted bail, parole during the lockdown period whereas 132 accused persons were granted bail, parole before lockdown. The data further shows that the Rohini district arrested 13 criminals whereas Dwarka district nabbed 12 criminals who were granted bail during lockdown but after coming out from jail they committed the crime. As per data, East district arrested two such criminals, North East-6, Shahdara-5, South-2, South East-7, Central-7, North-5, Outer North8, Outer-7, South West nabbed 9 criminals. The Delhi Police Commissioner has directed senior officers that appropriate watch should be kept on the activities of known robbers and snatchers as well as bad elements who are coming out on bail or released after the trial and they should be interrogated thoroughly.
