Ggm: Less number of critical patients offers glimmer of hope for dist Admin
GURUGRAM: With the fatality rate in Gurugram hovering between 1.6 to 1.7 per cent, the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Gurugram has already crossed 100. Notwithstanding the major health challenge, the district administration has expressed optimism that the number of deaths can be reduced as the number of critical patients has decreased to less than 50. According to official figures, there are 242 patients in Gurugram who have been hospitalised. In this, there are 42 patients who are said to be critical and have been admitted in the ICU. Out of this, 11 patients are right now on oxygen support and 13 patients are on ventilator support.
High number of asymptomatic patients who are receiving treatment under home isolation and extremely high rate of recoveries have resulted in Gurugram having less than 1,000 active patients. However, the officials also highlight caution citing that there are still a large number of undetected cases, which if not traced quickly, can increase the number of patients with high risk contacts. According to officials, there are presently 270 COVID-19 patients in Gurugram who still remain untraced as they provided wrong information about themselves to the testing laboratories.
“The number of critical patients in Gurugram today is less than 50. We hope if we are able to continue with this trend, the number of fatalities in Gurugram would reduce. We are also coordinating with the private hospitals and making sure that the critical COVID-19 patients recover quickly,” said a senior official from Gurugram Health Department.
