Open source communication solutions provider, Asttecs, has launched its IP PBX advanced telecom solution for educational institutions. The new offering provides an integrated telephony support with tailored applications to enable schools, colleges, hostels and universities communicate using the power of open source.

Unlike a traditional telecom model, the new Asttecs IP PBX solution comes preloaded with features like paging, Webbased video conferencing and voice blasting. It also gives the smartphone as an extension service using an active Wi-Fi network.

“Our IP PBX solution for educational institutions is designed to deliver powerful communication tools and operational applications that simplify the daily tasks of faculty and students,” said Manjunath R.J., head of the IP PBX division at Asttecs, in a statement.

Based on open standards-based architecture, the new solution offers intelligent call routing and IVR functionality to ease communication between students, teachers and other staff. It also provides real-time connectivity between teaching staff through Wi-Fi extensions, directory services and smartphone integration. Besides, there are options such as voice blast and paging, multi-party audio and video conferencing, emergency alerts, appointment scheduling and reminders, among others.

For students, Asttecs has given a complete call management suite that includes time-based calling slots, inbound and outbound calling, and call duration control, black list and white list support, user ID and password powered calling, the prepaid and postpaid calling facility and billing details.

“Effective communication among the teaching staff, and between students and teacher reflects the professional adequacy of an institution. Asttecs presents a competitively priced, highly feature-rich, IP PBX solution that creates an engaging experience for all the stakeholders, at every stage of the learning cycle,” Manjunath added.
