Collabora Online 3.0 now suitable for large scale deployment

-

The driving force that took LibreOffice to the cloud, Collabora, has announced Collabora Online 3.0. This is a major release as it is a flagship enterprise-ready cloud document suite. Collabora Online 3.0 comes loaded with many new features and improvements.

The parent, Collabora Online, is a powerful LibreOffice-based online office suite allowing you to access document editing features through your Web browser. It is interoperable with all major document, spreadsheet and presentation file formats, and easy to integrate into your infrastructure. It allows you to stay in full control of your own data—on-premise or in the cloud.

So, what’s new in Collabora Online 3.0? It has many improvements under the hood and lots of new features that make the collaborative editing experience even better. The company claims that when combined with one of its many partner solutions, Collabora Online is an excellent choice for enterprises wanting a powerful office suite for confidential documents on-premise, or for hosting and cloud businesses that wish to include online office suite functionality into their service offerings.

“Months of hard work from the Collabora team has made this release really impressive,” said Michael Meeks, GM of Collabora Productivity. “The list of improvements and new features highlight the progress in our ongoing work to ensure that capturing the huge benefits of Web deployment doesn’t have to mean sacrificing significant functionality,” he added.

There were many smaller features and fixes released in the 2.1.x series over the last half a year; however, a number of larger feature improvements are offered in Collabora Online 3.0.
