OAC ‘13 paves the way for­ward for OOH in­dus­try

OAC ’13, true to its prom­ise of be­ing an ef­fec­tive plat­form for the OOH ad­ver­tis­ing in­dus­try, saw a se­ries of fruit­ful in­ter­ac­tions that had the au­di­ence and par­tic­i­pants dis­cussing the way for­ward for this in­dus­try.

Held on July 5th and 6th at the Grand Hy­att, Bam­bolim, Goa, the event had over 400 del­e­gates SDUWLFLSDWLQJ LQ LW. 7KHUH ZHUH DOVR VRPH VLJQL­fiFDQW FKDQJHV WKLV YHDU. 7R EHJLQ ZLWK, LW ZDV IRU WKH fiUVW time held out­side Mum­bai. OAC 2013 also had a higher num­ber of del­e­gates at­tend­ing it com­pared to last year. The event was well at­tended by var­i­ous in­ter­est groups in­clud­ing brands, me­dia own­ers, spe­cial­ist agen­cies, re­gional mu­nic­i­pal cor­po­ra­tions and so­lu­tion providers. The 9th edi­tion of OAC also had a dif­fer­ent con­ven­tion for­mat fol­lowed this year with break­away ses­sions, a ses­sion on soft skills train­ing and the ‘Young Out­doo­rian’ chal­lenge to give recog­ni­tion to new tal­ent in the in­dus­try. The break­away ses­sions had pre­sen­ta­tions run­ning si­mul­ta­ne­ously cater­ing to dif­fer­ent au­di­ence groups in­clud­ing Spe­cial­ist Agen­cies, me­dia own­ers and re­gional ad­ver­tis­ers with top­ics rel­e­vant to each par­tic­u­lar group. The fo­cus of each ses­sion was paving the way for­ward with re­gard to dif­fer­ent as­pects of the in­dus­try and ar­riv­ing at some com­monly ac­cept­able DSSURDFKHV WR GLIIHUHQW SUREOHPV DIflLFWLQJ WKH LQGUVWUY, which has al­ways been the vi­sion of OAC. The event be­gan on an in­ter­est­ing and thought pro­vok­ing note by Dev­dutt Pattanaik, author of ‘Busi­ness Su­tra’ on the In­dian way of lead­er­ship. Sub­se­quent ses­sions over the next two days pre­sented and mod­er­ated by pro­fes­sion­als from brands, the OOH in­dus­try and creative agen­cies ex­plored many rel­e­vant ar­eas such as ac­ti­va­tion, OOH in­vest­ments, trans­parency, use of WHFKQRORJY HWF. 7KH fiQDO VHVVLRQ RI 2$& 2013 FDOOHG ‘Short Term Ten­ure ka Side Ef­fects’ ad­dressed the most vi­tal as­pect of the in­dus­try – the role of the reg­u­la­tory au­thor­i­ties.
