OAC ‘13 paves the way forward for OOH industry

OAC ’13, true to its promise of being an effective platform for the OOH advertisin­g industry, saw a series of fruitful interactio­ns that had the audience and participan­ts discussing the way forward for this industry.

Held on July 5th and 6th at the Grand Hyatt, Bambolim, Goa, the event had over 400 delegates SDUWLFLSDW­LQJ LQ LW. 7KHUH ZHUH DOVR VRPH VLJQLfiFDQ­W FKDQJHV WKLV YHDU. 7R EHJLQ ZLWK, LW ZDV IRU WKH fiUVW time held outside Mumbai. OAC 2013 also had a higher number of delegates attending it compared to last year. The event was well attended by various interest groups including brands, media owners, specialist agencies, regional municipal corporatio­ns and solution providers. The 9th edition of OAC also had a different convention format followed this year with breakaway sessions, a session on soft skills training and the ‘Young Outdoorian’ challenge to give recognitio­n to new talent in the industry. The breakaway sessions had presentati­ons running simultaneo­usly catering to different audience groups including Specialist Agencies, media owners and regional advertiser­s with topics relevant to each particular group. The focus of each session was paving the way forward with regard to different aspects of the industry and arriving at some commonly acceptable DSSURDFKHV WR GLIIHUHQW SUREOHPV DIflLFWLQJ WKH LQGUVWUY, which has always been the vision of OAC. The event began on an interestin­g and thought provoking note by Devdutt Pattanaik, author of ‘Business Sutra’ on the Indian way of leadership. Subsequent sessions over the next two days presented and moderated by profession­als from brands, the OOH industry and creative agencies explored many relevant areas such as activation, OOH investment­s, transparen­cy, use of WHFKQRORJY HWF. 7KH fiQDO VHVVLRQ RI 2$& 2013 FDOOHG ‘Short Term Tenure ka Side Effects’ addressed the most vital aspect of the industry – the role of the regulatory authoritie­s. Moderated by Noomi Mehta- Chairman IOAA, the session’s panel included Rajendra JagtapAddi­tional Municipal Commission­er –Pune, Swati Deshpande - Additional Municipal Commission­er-Thane, Jayaraj Kennedy - Additional Municipal Commission­erHyderaba­d and Ravideep Singh Chahar Additional Deputy Commission­er – North Delhi.
