An affordable device which looks good and is capable of handling various light tasks

Micromax has already launched two devices in the Canvas Lapbook series, which we have reviewed previously. This new offering, LAPbook L1160 looks better than what they offered previously but what about its performance? Let’s find out...

Improved looks with a sleek profile: The Canvas Lapbook L1160 has the basic design and is similar to its predecessors, but has a sleek profile and streamlined edges. It looks premium with a metallic finish on top while the rest of the body is black in color. It has two hinges which keep the screen stable at various angles. However, you can’t flip the screen for a full 180 degrees which is possible with Lenovo Ideapad 100S. But with only 1.3 kg weight, the Canvas Lapbook has only 18 mm thickness, making it a perfect partner to carry along. The entire body is made of durable plastic which makes it a decent device.

Sharp display: The lapbook has an 11.6-inch (1280X800p) screen producing vivid visuals. With good brightness levels, it offers a decent viewing experience. You can enjoy games and movies and share the screen with your friends and family as it offers wide viewing angles. This comes with dual Realtek ALC5645 Audio Codec speakers placed on top of the keyboard. It produces rich sound, even on high volumes and you would enjoy crisp sound quality.

Full chicklet style keyboard: Micromax has added the chicklet style keyboard with all the required keys. Also, it has various shot-keys which will function in combination with the function key “Fn”. It gives you good typing experience. The touch-pad is also good in size and has two left and right buttons, making your navigation easy. This also comes with 0.3 MP webcam, which is good for video chats. You can have Skype calls with it, but the quality of the images and videos are poor.

Comes with all required connectivity options: Micromax tried to bring all possible connectivity features in this small device. It comes with inbuilt Wi-Fi, has 2 USB 2.0 slots and Bluetooth 4.0. You can share the screen with other devices using HDMI port and it also has a LAN port which we rarely find in such devices.

A decent notebook: The LAPbook is powered by 1.3 GHz Quad-core Intel Atom processor and backed by 2GB DDR3 RAM. It comes with built-in 32 GB of memory that can be expanded up to 64 GB using a microSD card and runs on latest Windows 10 OS. We used the device for more than three weeks running various apps. In day-to-day usage, we didn’t find any performance lag when running MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Note, etc.) and two browsers with more than 4 tabs in each simultaneously.

Battery backup: The Canvas Lapbook is equipped with a 4100mAh battery that can last for more than 8 hours with PRICE: PERFORMANCE: FEATURES: — ashok Pandey
