Capture breathtaking selfies and gorgeous lanscapes with this dual-4G smartphone

The HTC Desire 10 Pro is capable of drawing fandom from its 20-megapixel rear and 13-megapixel selfie cameras. It became our handy choice for capturing the spinetingling landscapes and stunning selfies on a vacation to Barot, Himachal Pradesh.

Available in colours with rather jazzy names – Polar White, Stone Black, Royal Blue, and Valentine Lux, its unibody chassis makes it light and thin with an iterated design from HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle.

HTC Desire 10 Pro runs HTC Sense Home interface atop Android Marshmallow 6.0, supports for 4G LTE and dual-band wifi but NFC is missing.

Display & Sound: The IPS display 5.5-inch on the HTC Desire 10 Pro sports Full HD resolution at 401 ppi. The display tilts towards warmer, oversaturated hues. Otherwise vivid & bright, the reflective screen takes a beating under strong sunlight.

The mono speaker at the bottom feels frail with dreadfully low volume, resulting in missed alarms and calls. The bundled earphones sound rich and clear, but lacking towards the bass frequencies, which can be enhanced using HTC’s Boomsound Audio.

Battery: The Desire 10 Pro is definitely remarkable in terms of the battery, which can serve for good 24 hours on average usage with 4G and wi-fi interchangeably being used, and flamboyant photography as well as moderate gaming. The 3000 mAh battery pack is really robust as it lasted six hours in our video loop test. It comes with Fast Charging at 2A and charges completely in less than 90 minutes.

Camera: The 20-megapixel rear shooter focuses quickly and provides DSLR-like manual controls. The camera app is rich with features such as Panorama, HDR & Auto-HDR, selfie panorama and HDR selfie. The rear shooter takes impressive macro shots. The 13-megapixel front camera features retina flash which significantly adds to low-light selfies. 4k and slo-mo video are disappointingly missing due to lack of hardware support.

Storage, Processing and Gaming: HTC got a little carried away with the storage, and it means well. With the inbuilt 64 GB you are not likely to run out of space easily. You can also use MicroSD card up to 2TB. At its heart, Desire Pro 10 uses a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P10 Octa-core processor at 2.2 GHz, also seen on the Oppo F1 Plus, Xperia XA and Yu Yuniorn. This is backed by 4 GB of RAM which makes multitasking agile.

Desire 10 Pro fails to awe gamers with the weak on-board Mali-T860 GPU. While testing, we played Alto’s Adventure, Badland 2, Mekorama, Asphalt Xtreme, and Modern Combat 5 and observed minor seizures causing ripples in the gaming experience.

Fingerprint: The fingerprint, placed on the rear face, is to be accessed by index fingers. Screen wake up is zippy and rarely misses a scan. The fingerprint can be used to click pictures as well as secure sensitive media and information using HTC’s Boost+ App.

Bottomline: HTC Desire 10 Pro doesn’t displease at any point, unless you expect a slayer performance. The camera is great for social media, and you will be clicking endless selfies, appreciating the performance in all lighting conditions. Fast Charging and a long-lasting battery are great supplements. At its price, it faces counteraction from Honor 8, Oneplus 3 and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016).
