‘ We are the only one who has the so­lu­tions for the mid- mar­ket’

In a one on one with PC Quest Su­mir Bha­tia, Vice Pres­i­dent of Len­ovo Data Cen­tre Group (DCG) speaks about the so­lu­tions of Len­ovo DCG in mid-mar­ket and the chan­nel ecosys­tems

Tell us about the Data Cen­tre group of Len­ovo?

First of all, as a or­ga­ni­za­tion we are on the con­stant stage of trans­for­ma­tion. Data Cen­tre Group within Len­ovo is a fo­cused or­ga­ni­za­tion of three groups. We got PCSD, PC smart de­vices, we got the Mo­torola busi­ness. I lead this data cen­ter group for Asia pa­cific and it’s much fo­cused group. The Data Cen­tre Group is launched re­cently. We have ba­si­cally launched two re­branded sys­tems one is think sys­tem and an­other one is think ag­ile. The think sys­tem is the dis­crete server brand which is a stand­alone server and the other one is a think ag­ile which is a soft­ware de­fine data Cen­tre so­lu­tions so ba­si­cally there are two dis­crete group.

We have the sale’s team with all the tech­ni­cal skills. Each and ev­ery one is ded­i­cated at only sell­ing Data Cen­tre So­lu­tions.

What is your Len­ovo’s chan­nel ecosys­tem?

We have ac­tu­ally re­cently glob­ally launched a Data Cen­tre Part­ner Pro­gram which is spe­cific to the Data Cen­tre Group. Ini­tially we used to have a sin­gle

Part­ner pro­gram that cov­ered our PC Chan­nels and our Data Cen­tre chan­nels. So we formed a new pro­gram glob­ally which is con­sid­ered around the world and fo­cus is on Data Cen­ter. They are based out of 3 tiers its plat­inum, gold, sil­ver. When we build this we wanted to make sure that it’s a very sim­ple pro­gram so when we look at our com­peti­tors we look across this fear of all the ven­dors we find that the pro­grams are very com­plex. The pro­gram’s whole process is very sim­ple and part­ners will ac­tu­ally get the ben­e­fit in three ar­eas, so if you look at the com­pe­ti­tion there are var­i­ous ways of ac­tu­ally mak­ing money.

In your opin­ion, where are the mar­ket op­por­tu­ni­ties in In­dia?

Last year, In­dia is the fastest in Data Cen­ter re­gion in terms of adop­tion. And with a huge push of Gov­ern­ment in the field of dig­i­ti­za­tion, the mo­ment is of lo­cal cloud providers. An­other field is BFSI and Tele­com, which is an­other fo­cus area. In my opin­ion, mid mar­ket is it­self emerg­ing as the big­gest sec­tor as it is trans­form­ing rapidly in terms of tech­nol­ogy adop­tion.

Is there any dif­fer­ent Plans for Mid-mar­ket ver­ti­cal?

We will keep strength­en­ing our Chan­nel ecosys­tem. Although, we al­ways work with part­ners who are strong in mid-mar­ket seg­ment. And Len­ovo has the widest port­fo­lio in In­dia to­day, its more than any of our com­peti­tors. Also we are the only one which has the so­lu­tions for the mid mar­ket.
