Lensbaby Releases ‘Velvet 28,’ Wide-angle Prime Lens

Lensbaby has released its latest wide-angle prime lens, the ‘Velvet 28’. It is a 28mm f/2.5 wide-angle lens compatible with a vast range of full-frame and APS-C camera systems. The 28mm lens is constructed of eight elements in seven groups, features a 12-blade aperture diaphragm, uses a 67mm front filter thread and also can also capture 1:2 ratio macro photos, with a minimum focusing distance of 14cm. The lens adds a ‘velvety glow’ to its images when shot wide open and becomes less pronounced as the lens is stopped down. The Velvet 28 is offered in Canon EF, Canon RF, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds, Nikon F, Nikon Z and Sony E mounts. The dimensions and weight differs slightly depending on the mount and weighs around 600g and measures in at 72mm by 89mm. The lens is currently available for purchase at a price of US $550 on Lensbaby’s online store, as well as Adorama and B&H.
