HORIZON ORDERS 30 EMBRAER E175 JETS
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and Horizon Air have signed a contract for the supply of 30 E175 jets with the option to order another 33 for the same price. The order, which is the largest in the history of Horizon Air, is valued at $2.8 billion at current list prices and will be delivered over a three-year period beginning next year. Horizon Air will use the E175 to fly lower density routes where there may not be enough traffic to sustain a larger aircraft. Apart from route expansion, the aircraft will also be used to replace 15 of the airline’s leased Bombardier Q400s, which are scheduled to be returned in 2018.
