INDIGENOUS PRODUCTION OF DEFENCE EQUIPMENT

A press release on May10, 2016, by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) highlighted the steps being taken for indigenous production of defence equipment. It stated that capital procurement of defence equipment/weapons is carried out as per the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP). During the last three years, 56 contracts have been signed with foreign vendors with cumulative value of ` 53,684.32 crore
