US ARMY CONTRACTS GDLS FOR MORE STRYKER VEHICLES CONVERSION
General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) has got a contract for conversion of the US Army’s additional flat-bottom Stryker infantry combat vehicles (IFV) to a newer, more survivable double-V hull (DVH) design. Awarded by the Army’s tank-automotive and armaments command (TACOM) and lifecycle management command (LCMC), the $118-million contract covers conversion of a total of 66 vehicles. Involving an exchange of flat-bottom Stryker hulls for the newer DVH design, the Stryker DVHexchange pilot programme was jointly launched by the army and the company in response to a requirement for additional DVH vehicles and to lower the overall vehicle cost in 2012.
