Air Mar­shal Anil Khosla takes over as Direc­tor Gen­eral Air Op­er­a­tions


Air Mar­shal Anil Khosla took over as Direc­tor Gen­eral Air Op­er­a­tions at Air Head­quar­ters on Jan­uary 12. An alum­nus of the Na­tional De­fence Academy, he was com­mis­sioned in the fighter stream of the In­dian Air Force in De­cem­ber 1979. He has over 4,000 hours of fly­ing ex­pe­ri­ence hav­ing flown the Jaguar and MiG-21. He is equally ex­pe­ri­enced on both ground attack and air de­fence roles with spe­cial­i­sa­tion on mar­itime role.

He is a post-grad­u­ate from the De­fence Ser­vices Staff Col­lege and holds two M.Phil de­grees in mil­i­tary stud­ies. He is an ‘A2’ cat­e­gory fly­ing in­struc­tor and a fighter strike leader. He is also an alum­nus of the Na­tional De­fence Col­lege.

The Air Of­fi­cer has vast in­struc­tional ex­pe­ri­ence and has been di­rect­ing staff at pres­ti­gious in­sti­tu­tions like the Tac­tics and Com­bat Devel­op­ment Estab­lish­ment and Fly­ing In­struc­tor School. He has com­manded a Jaguar squadron with mar­itime role and two front line bases of the IAF at Jaisalmer and Am­bala. He has held var­i­ous staff ap­point­ments at Air HQ. Th­ese in­clude Prin­ci­pal Direc­tor at Di­rec­torate of In­for­ma­tion and Elec­tronic War­fare, Direc­tor in Per­son­nel branch and Joint Direc­tor at Di­rec­torate of Con­cept Stud­ies. In the rank of Air Vice Mar­shal, he has held the ap­point­ment of Air Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing HQ Mar­itime Air Op­er­a­tions and Air Of­fi­cer Com­mand­ing, Jammu and Kash­mir area. His last ap­point­ment was as Se­nior Air Staff Of­fi­cer, Cen­tral Air Com­mand.

He is dec­o­rated with Pres­i­den­tial award – Vayusena Medal.
