COAS in­au­gu­rates the Bi­en­nial Ar­moured Corps Con­fer­ence 2016


Gen­eral Dal­bir Singh, the Chief of the Army Staff, in­au­gu­rated the two-day Bi­en­nial Ar­moured Corps Con­fer­ence and at­tended the first ses­sion or­gan­ised at the Ar­moured Corps Cen­tre and School, Ahmed­na­gar on May 13, 2016. A large num­ber of se­nior serv­ing of­fi­cers of the Ar­moured Corps, Colonels of the Reg­i­ments, For­ma­tion Com­man­ders and Com­man­dants of the Ar­moured Reg­i­ments at­tended the con­fer­ence and dis­cussed is­sues re­lated to the Ar­moured Corps as rel­e­vant at re­spec­tive lev­els.

The con­fer­ence aimed at dis­cussing is­sues re­lated to the Ar­moured Corps with fo­cus on the re­newed war-fight­ing paradigm in con­tem­po­rary times. The con­fer­ence also ad­dressed the as­pi­ra­tions of the Field Army and Ar­moured Corps Cen­tre and School and was an op­por­tune event to fine-tune its op­er­a­tional re­quire­ments and re­align the train­ing fo­cus ac­cord­ingly.

Gen­eral Dal­bir Singh ap­pre­ci­ated the laud­able work be­ing done by Ar­moured Corps Cen­tre and School in par­tic­u­lar and com­pli­mented it for its state-of-the-art train­ing in­fra­struc­ture and stan­dards. He praised the bat­tle pre­pared­ness of the Ar­moured Corps and stated that he was con­fi­dent of the arm to take on re­newed op­er­a­tional roles as part of the Army. He also ex­pressed that the com­mit­ment, morale, train­ing and op­er­a­tional ca­pa­bil­i­ties of the Corps was praise­wor­thy.

The Bi­en­nial Ar­moured Corps Con­fer­ence is a plat­form to brain­storm im­por­tant train­ing is­sues to en­hance op­er­a­tional ef­fec­tive­ness, em­power ju­nior lead­ers and pro­vide a plat­form to ex­press and dis­cuss as­pi­ra­tions and op­er­a­tional re­quire­ments of the Com­bat Arm.
