Shah’s closeness to Modi, who gave him a free hand in UP, helped enhance his status in the political field

This Lok Sabha polls have effectively changed the profile of many provincial leaders. Amongst the topmost of such leaders is BJP’s Amit Shah who has been able to improve and enhance his status in the political field. He is being termed as the most important factor in BJP’s good performance in Uttar Pradesh.

While Shah was confined to Gujarat ahead of these general elections, with the publicity that he received during the past few weeks, he has been able to enhance his political stature at a national level. Another aspect that helped him was his closeness to Narendra Modi. Modi’s confidence in him had ensured that he was given a free hand in Uttar Pradesh several months ahead of polls.
