Bhopal girls blank Gujarat

Bhopal defeated Gujarat 2- 0 in a league match of the 4th Hockey India sub- junior girls’ national championsh­ip in Haldwani on Friday.

In the well- contested first half, Bhopal took the lead through Rafiya Faroque in the 35th minute.

Bhopal returned with the same defensive attitude in the second half, restrictin­g the opponents before Saraswati

In another Pool A match, Himachal Pradesh thrashed Tripura 20- 0 to register second win

Khanal doubled the score in the 69th minute.

In another Pool A match, Himachal Pradesh thrashed Tripura 20- 0 to register their second win in the tournament.

Captain Kanishka Rai opened the scoring in the 4th minute and went on to post a double hat- trick ( 33, 43, 49, 54, 61 minutes).

Shanaj ( 16, 25, 40, 50, 59 min) and Madhu ( 21, 23, 44, 52, 60 min) added to the scoreline.

Kusum ( 29 min), Nisha ( 45, 53 min) and Sapna ( 65) were the other scorers.

In Pool B, Sports Authority of India overcame Mumbai Hockey Associatio­n 6- 0. Anjali Gautam pumped in goals in the 16th and 20th minutes to give SAI a strong start.

In second half, making full use of their penalty corners, three goals were stroked in in the 39th, 42nd and 48th minutes by Mudita and Lakshmi Devi respective­ly. Rajni completed the rout.
