Cheema, Singh set for world finals

Kanwaljit Cheema and Kulvinder Singh representi­ng Delhi team Jet Airways have emerged champions at the 9th annual TAKE Solutions world corporate golf challenge national final at the par 72, 6382 yard Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, in Kuala Lumpur.

They will now participat­e at the 20th edition of the world championsh­ip of corporate golf at Sotogrande, Spain this July.

In a hotly contested final round, 28 golfers representi­ng 14 corporate teams, all winners from four regional qualifiers held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, compet-

ed for the right to become India’s entry to the 20th edition of the world finals against teams from around 25 different countries.

Jet Airways led by Cheema ( 34 points, h’cap 8) and Singh ( 30 points, h’cap 9) emerged on top of the leader board with 64 nett points, edging out Mumbai team Rahul Gautam Divan & Associates consisting of Rahul Divan ( 31 points, h’cap 8) and Akshay Kilachand ( 32 points, h’cap 6) by just one point.

Cheema also emerged triumphant in the individual best score category with 28 gross points. Ashish Goel of GE Power & Water from Delhi won the ‘ player of the tournament’ contest on the facebook page of Halogolf. com, online partner of the TAKE Solutions golf challenge.

Teams in action included Array Med, Tianhe Chemicals, Meritir India, Nvidia Graphics, Hindoostan Mills, Abc Bearings Ltd., Rahul Gautam Divan & Associates, RA India, Emami, BFSC, GE Power & Water, Nestle, Adidas India and Jet Airways.
