Transport dept conducts raids

The transport department has conducted raids on motor licensing offices in the city to check the presence of touts and harassment the citizens faced. The raids were carried out by department’s surprise inspection teams at zonal offices in Mayur Vihar and at two car dealers having showrooms located at Lajpat Nagar. “During the raid at Mayur Vihar zonal office, no undesirabl­e element was noticed and all necessary functions were being carried out in a smooth manner without any inconvenie­nce to the public,” a senior official said. Two teams carried out surprise inspection­s at showrooms during which some irregulari­ties were noticed. “It was seen that these showrooms were not having trade certificat­es as required under Rule- 33 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
