Upadhyay meets L- G over guest teachers

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay met lieutenant- governor Najeeb Jung to discuss issue of temporary teachers, who have agitating for the last five years for permanent jobs, and other problems faced by the Delhiites. Mr Upadhyay urged the L- G to ensure a corruption- free environmen­t in the national capital.

Raising the demand of temporary teachers, Mr Upadhyay pointed that a temporary teacher is being paid only about ` 7,000 per month whereas an ordinary employee gets minimum wages much higher than this.

“During the last 15 years, the Congress government disregarde­d the interests of the teachers due to which 18,000 posts of teachers are lying vacant under the Delhi government and education has become a business in which contract teachers are being forced to work. It is regrettabl­e that the teachers are not getting due respect,” said Mr Upadhyay.

The Delhi BJP president said that the L- G expressed his deep con- cern over the problems of teachers and assured that the administra­tion will take it seriously.

The BJP delegation also drew the attention of the L- G towards the decrease in the quantity of water being released from Haryana and demanded that Delhi should raise this issue seriously during the meeting of Upper Yamuna River Board meeting on the August 1.

The BJP has submitted a memorandum to the L- G over the safety of women and requested for establishm­ent of women police stations in every district and sensitisat­ion of police personnel. The BJP wants the administra­tion to ensure that the women feel safe in the city.

The delegation demanded measures should be taken to ensure that people approachin­g for basic civic amenities do not face any kind of corruption. “Special measures need to be taken in the zonal offices of all the civic agencies and utility providers which are daily approached by common man are corruption- free,” the BJP told the L- G.
