US chamber upset over Amway row

New Delhi: American Chamber of Commerce on Friday expressed concern over the detention of William Scott Pinckney, the India head of US-based Amway, pointing towards a conspiracy angle and urging for framing immediate legislation for the direct selling industry. “Amcham remains concerned with the arrest of Bill Pinckney, since May 26. He is an expatriate, a senior citizen ( 65 years old), and has worked in India since 1998. To jail a senior member of the Corporate community for 60 days merely on receipt of an unconfirmed complaint is unheard of,” Amcham India said.
