Well ladies and gents, this cat lives a kind of lifestyle usually reserved for a king/ queen. The unquestionably pampered cat of Chanel design maestro’s Karl Lagerfeld is not just a trophy pussy, but it’s just been announced that she will be releasing her first book in September titled Choupette: The Private Life of a High- Flying Fashion Cat. It is said to be an autobiographical volume cataloguing the emotional and physical roller- coaster of her life as a super- pet. There’ll be sections on diet, beauty, healthcare, fashion tips, secret loves and pet hates. Wait there is more!

The cat also has scored a beauty campaign with Japanese cosmetics brand Shu Uemura. She will be the face and possibly the muse for their ‘ Shupette’ collection, which the brand boasts is “the first tie- up between a beauty name and a house pet”.

Well, reaching up to the jet- setting life of Choupette and her papa who is the creative director of Chanel might be challenging but crazy pet owners and lovers might surprise you in unique ways when it comes to pampering their pet kids.

Sangeeta S. Bahl, image consultant and mountaineer, spoils her four- year- old black Cocker Spaniel Pepsi rotten by giving her bath in L’Oreal shampoo. She says, “I don’t have a daughter hence she’s the closest. My Pepsi also plays the role of my muse sometimes. As part of my profession I work with various coloured clips and when Pepsi is around I experiment various coloured clips on her. I had also painted her claws and front paws time and again and once I remember I had even knitted a hairband for her to keep her long ears away.”

Business entrepreneur Nikki Kapoor has another touchy story to share. “When I was about 1617, I had a certain disease because of which I knew I’ll never be able to become a mother. I had known about this since an early age and ironically I had always been attracted to animals and wanted a dog that could sit beside me. My first pets were two black labs, SherShah and Sultana. Since I had been denied from having human children, I thought why should I deny my canine children from having what my human children would’ve had enjoyed in their lifetime? I used to arrange birthday parties for my dogs and invite all the neighbourhood dogs to come and share the cakes. Except for sending them to school, I think I’ll do anything and everything for my canine children. For me they are no different! They are my life.”

Actress Shveta Salve is known as a crazy pet lover in her circuit. She shares, “Yes I do have pets, but I recently lost one. He was a lab named Dino. Now I have a beagle by the name Phoebe. She is a super brat but ever since my other one passed away she has become quiet. But that doesn’t stop me from pampering her and doing fun things. I don’t do a lot of crazy things but just the usual. Recently I brought her these really cute gum boots for the ongoing monsoons which look adorable and keeps her paws clean during her rainy walks.”

Vidhi Malla Ohri, a communication consultant shares that she loves her pets more than people. Her pets Leo, Theo, Hulk, Liza, Jack, Fighter, Chuha, Brownie and Mommsey and Papa have separate toy baskets and she dresses up her dogs for fun. “The concept of pet is changing. Owners believe in the humanisation of their pets. I want my pets to get the best that is available in the market. I feel clothing lines for pooches are a fantastic idea especially on special occasions.”
