Meet sets tone for Assembly elections

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

For Delhi BJP, all roads lead to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday as the city welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and newly- appointed party president Amit Shah for the national council meet. With reports that Assembly elections could be held in December, Mr Amit Shah exhorted the saffron cadre to be ready for polls. The BJP, which was initially looking at the option of forming a government without going to polls, is now getting battle ready to take up the challenge.

The city unit has been advised to promote the Union Budget through various means. Union finance minister Arun Jaitley had recently organised “budget pe charcha” with the RWAs on the lines of their previously- held “chai pe charcha” in Delhi to hardsell the Budget among the people. The party is counting upon the Budget as the finance minister has made several reservations for the current financial year. Moreover, eyeing the repolls, no new tax for Delhi was introduced.

In addition to this, small corner meetings would be held, where people will be told that the “acche din” has finally arrived for Delhiites as their power bills would come down substantially. Sources informed that new buses have been ordered, more water ATMs would soon be commissioned and developmental work would kickstart in unauthorised colonies.

Party members are already sharing the responsibility that it has to shoulder for the muchanticipated elections to ensure cooperation between leaders and to connect with the masses.

The party is constantly in touch with office- bearers and holding regular meetings with all district presidents, MLAs and members of Parliament. Revamping of the city and revival of party organisation is also on cards. For this, the party is also seeking to reward its hard- working workers with suitable position in the party.
