Agencies launch sanitation drive

In a bid to beautify the city, the civic agencies have launched special sanitation drives across the city.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n launched the drive in west zone, which was inaugurate­d by commission­er Manish Gupta. For the sanitation- cum- beautifica­tion drive, the commission­er insisted upon the municipal staff to interact with the market associatio­ns under their respective jurisdicti­on with a view to take appropriat­e measures to beautify the markets ( with lighting etc.) The commission­er also insisted for the active participat­ion of youth and children in the various activities, like Prabhat Pheri and various door- todoor campaigns to spread the awareness among general public.

SDMC commission­er Manish Gupta also inaugurate­d one- day diabetes awareness camp at BRD Ayurvedic Diabetic Centre, Rajouri Garden.

The children of the South Delhi Municipal Primary School also participat­ed in the drive and performed a short play to make people aware about the cleanlines­s in their area. The children also performed “Rally ( Prabhat Pheri)” in the area with the placards. A tree plantation drive was also started from the Janakpuri area. During this drive, approximat­ely 21,000 saplings will be planted in the jurisdicti­on of West Zone.

Meanwhile, North Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n also planted saplings and launched the drive at Roshanara Bagh ( Civil Lines Zone). Over the occasion, North Delhi mayor Yognder Chandolia said that it is moral responsibi­lity of every citizen of North Delhi to safeguard the tress and maintain the cleanlines­s around their areas. He also said that the North Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n set the target to plant one lakh saplings during this year.

On the occasion, the schoolchil­dren gave message to the North Delhi citizens about importance of sanitation through Nukkad Natak and Prabhat pheries.

Also, East Delhi Municipal organised the drive at Mandawali Chowk near Urja Vihar. The East Corporatio­n also would be launching a workshop on ‘ critically new born care’ t at Swami Dayanad Hospital at Dilshad Garden.
