City revenue dept starts I- Day drive

With the state administra­tion gearing up for the Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns, the city’s revenue department on Saturday launched a number of initiative­s in various districts that include sanitation drives, tree plantation, nukkad natak rallies and other cultural programmes.

“Various activities have been organised by the department in coordinati­on with civic bodies, I& FC, DHS, education, PWD, environmen­t, police, civil defence, DDMA, NYKS, mission convergenc­e etc. for each day of the week,” a government official said.

The department initiated special sanitation drives from Saturday in all revenue districts that will continue for the whole week to keep the surroundin­gs clean. “The East and North East districts carried out cleanlines­s drive, during which complete cleanlines­s of entire office complexes, flower pots was carried out. Spray has also spread over with the purpose to prevent breeding of bacteria and mosquitoes,” the official said.

The New Delhi district also launched the cleanlines­s drive in SRs, BDOs, SDMs, ADM and DM office premises and surroundin­g areas.

Rallies were organised by the Gender Resource Centres ( GRC) for spreading awareness and to mobilise people on the theme of Independen­ce Day and to make them aware of their duties and rights. The rallies were organised at Hari Nagar Extension. Part- III, Near A. S Jaitpur, D Block and A pocket , Madanpur Khadar, Batla House, Jamia Nagar, Beri Bagh Aali Vihar Aali Village, Jasola Village, Lalkuan, Tanki Road, Meethapur, Govindpuri , Kalka Ji, Khizrabad Village and Kotla Mubarakpur Village.

Nukkad natak on the theme of “Azadi Ek Nai Soch Ki” was organised at Lav- Kush Chowk in New Delhi’s Jaitpur by NGO Sambhawana Natya Manch to create awareness amongst public about riddance from intoxicati­on of all kinds; shunning corruption and communalis­m; Living in filth free environmen­t; the advantages of tree plantation­s for enriching environmen­t.

The north district launched “spirit of freedom”, with focus on involving citizens, civil societies and other agencies.
