Huge turnout for Season II

Raj Bharath of Bengaluru won the ‘ Young Star Driver Programme’ Season II conducted by Mercedes- Benz India at the Buddh Internatio­nal Circuit in Greater Noida on Friday.

Bharath clocked a time of 2: 26: 708, ahead of Vikash Anand ( 2: 28: 622) of Chennai and Bengaluru’s Ali Yawar Hayat ( 2: 29: 255), who finished second and third respective­ly.

The event saw over 5,000 applicatio­ns from racing aspirants

The winner also gets an opportunit­y to meet racing maestros — Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg, during the Singapore GP

between 18 and 25 years, from which the top six finalists were chosen for the final race.

Apart from Bharath, Anand and Hayat, the other finalists who competed for the best lap time in CLA 45 AMG were Alisha Abdullah ( Chennai), Chetan Korada ( Chennai) and Advait Deodhar ( Mumbai).

The winner will get an opportunit­y of bagging a coveted seat in the AMG driving academy pro training in Germany, while the runner- up will get an entry into AMG driving academy basic and advanced courses.

Additional­ly, the winner also gets an opportunit­y to meet racing maestros Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg during the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.

The final was flagged off by Eberhard Kern, managing director & CEO, Mercedes- Benz India and Vicky Chandhok.

Said Kern, on the occasion: “The winners of the ‘ MercedesBe­nz Young Star Driver Programme Season II’ will earn global exposure by working with the best talents from internatio­nal racing circuit.

“They will also learn the finer nuances of improving their racing skills on internatio­nal racing tracks under the guidance of globally distinguis­hed trainers.”
