New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on Saturday alleged that a BJP MP had offered him the post of chief minister of Delhi if he agreed to join the saffron brigade in order to help them form the government.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on Saturday alleged that a BJP MP had offered him the post of chief minister of Delhi if he would have agreed to join the saffron brigade in order to help them in forming the government.

The AAP leader has claimed that on August 19, a BJP MP, who also is a good friend of Mr Vishwas, visited him along with other party leaders. “During the conversation, he made an offer that if I switch to the BJP, then I would be made the chief minister. I was also told the senior cadre of the party was also aware about the offer proposed,” claimed Mr Vishwas.

Mr Vishwas has claimed that the BJP MP also told him that he would be introduced to the senior leaders of their party if he agreed to join them. “I had humbly denied the offer as I am not interested. I want to work for the people,” added the leader.

The AAP leader has refused the name of the MP or the BJP leaders who approached him. Mr Vishwas also blamed the BJP for trying all sorts of tricks to form the government.

The party tweeted, “Kumar Vishwas has done the right thing in going public. AAP requests BJP to drop politics of manipulation and restore democratic rights of people by joining call for elections. Let people decide.” A few days back, the AAP had claimed that its MLAs had been approached by the BJP for government formation. The AAP had won 28 seats in its first Assembly elections and had formed the government with outside support from the Congress’ eight MLAs.

Recently, the Congress MLAs had also claimed that AAP leader Manish Sisodiya and other senior leaders had sought their support to form the government in Delhi. The Congress had also claimed the AAP wanted its support in order to stop the saffron party from forming the government.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had resigned on February 14 after the Jan Lokpal Bill did not get passed following opposition from the BJP and the Congress. President’s Rule was imposed in Delhi on February 17.
