IAS OFFICER BOOKER FOR RAZING TEMPLE

A case for rioting, defiling a place of worship and trespassin­g has been registered against a senior IAS officer and his brother- in- law in Lucknow. According to police reports, IAS officer Shailesh Krishna, who is posted as principal secretary labour, and his brotherin- law R. N. Srivastava, along with a group of people, reached the Vardani Hanuman temple in Balaganj area near the Doordarsha­n TV tower on Saturday and demolished portion of the temple. The group had also brought earth- moving machines with them. The news spread like wildfire and thousands of local residents gathered opposite the temple. The angry group blocked the road and staged a protest demanding action against the accused. Traffic on the LucknowHar­doi road remained disrupted for several hours. Heavy police force had to be deployed for more than seven hours.
