- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Three Visvabharati University students, who were arrested by the police on Saturday evening for allegedly sexually harassing a junior student, taking obscene pictures of her in a cellphone and then extorting money from her under threat, were remanded in police custody. On Sunday third- year student Arindam Giri and two second- year students — Aniruddha Karmakar and Masum Mollah — were produced at Bolpur Sub Division Court. They have been booked under sections 323, 325, 354, 354B, 385, 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Public prosecutor Firoze Paul said, “The police prayed for their remand for seven days to the judge but was granted three days’ custody of the accused.” The accused, however, claimed that they were innocent.
