THE BUFFALO HOSTS

REPORTERS’ DIARY

-

UTTAR PRADESH minister Azam Khan’s buffaloes are becoming as famous as their master, if not more.

Recently, Mr Khan purchased about half- a- dozen buffaloes from Haryana and while they were being transported to Rampur, they made an overnight stopover at Saharanpur. The buffaloes were kept at a police station and just soon as the police officials learnt that the buffaloes belonged to Mr Khan, all hell broke loose.

The officials immediately presented themselves in the service of the buffaloes that were served special fodder along with rotis and jaggery. Hay was brought in to provide them a comfortable resting place and before they left on their onward journey to Rampur, the buffaloes were given a bath and a massage!

The journey of the buffaloes provided ample fodder for gossip in the political circles and WhatsApp was brimming with buffalo jokes.

It may be recalled that a few months ago, Mr Khan’s buffaloes had been stolen and the entire police force in Rampur launched a hunt for them and finally brought them back. Mr Khan, this time, refused to react to his buffalo stories and when prodded by a scribe, he said, “I told you last time that my buffaloes are more famous than Queen Victoria. It has been proved again this time.”
