Shah unlikely to meet Uddhav
Sena expects courtesy visit to Matoshree
The Maharashtra BJP has said that its national president Amit Shah will not meet Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray during his maiden visit to Mumbai on September 4.
On the other hand, the Shiv Sena is still expecting a courtesy visit from Mr Shah to Matoshree, the residence of the Thackeray family.
“The BJP president is not meeting Mr Thackeray during his visit and he doesn’t need to at this point of time. The meeting between both the leaders could be held if the seat sharing talks were in the final stage,” said a senior leader, on condition of anonymity.
“It had become a tradition for any senior BJP leader party president would participate in the core committee meeting to be held at the residence of Vinod Tawde, leader of Opposition, in Vile Parle.
“After finishing the meeting, Mr Shah will visit for lunch the residence of Poonam Mahajan, MP from North Central parliamentary constituency. He will then address a party gathering at Shanmukhananda Hall and visit three Ganpati mandals, including Lalbaugcha Raja and those of MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Ashish Shelar, Mumbai BJP president,” he added.
The relations between the Shiv Sena and BJP have soured since the BJP leaders demanded an equal number of seats for the coming Assembly elections.
