Shah un­likely to meet Ud­dhav

The Ma­ha­rash­tra BJP has said that its na­tional pres­i­dent Amit Shah will not meet Shiv Sena pres­i­dent Ud­dhav Thack­eray dur­ing his maiden visit to Mumbai on Septem­ber 4.

On the other hand, the Shiv Sena is still ex­pect­ing a cour­tesy visit from Mr Shah to Matoshree, the res­i­dence of the Thack­eray fam­ily.

“The BJP pres­i­dent is not meet­ing Mr Thack­eray dur­ing his visit and he doesn’t need to at this point of time. The meet­ing be­tween both the lead­ers could be held if the seat shar­ing talks were in the fi­nal stage,” said a se­nior leader, on con­di­tion of anonymity.

“It had be­come a tra­di­tion for any se­nior BJP leader party pres­i­dent would par­tic­i­pate in the core com­mit­tee meet­ing to be held at the res­i­dence of Vinod Tawde, leader of Op­po­si­tion, in Vile Parle.

“After fin­ish­ing the meet­ing, Mr Shah will visit for lunch the res­i­dence of Poonam Ma­ha­jan, MP from North Cen­tral par­lia­men­tary con­stituency. He will then ad­dress a party gath­er­ing at Shan­mukhananda Hall and visit three Gan­pati man­dals, in­clud­ing Lal­baugcha Raja and those of MLA Man­gal Prab­hat Lodha and Ashish She­lar, Mumbai BJP pres­i­dent,” he added.

The re­la­tions be­tween the Shiv Sena and BJP have soured since the BJP lead­ers de­manded an equal num­ber of seats for the com­ing Assem­bly elec­tions.
