HC notice to CBI on U’khand encounter

The Delhi high court on Monday sought response from the CBI on the pleas of 14 suspended Uttarakhan­d policemen, who had approached the court challengin­g their conviction and life imprisonme­nt for killing a 22- year- old MBA student in a fake encounter in Dehra Dun in 2009.

On June 9, the trial court had awarded life imprisonme­nt to 17 Uttarakhan­d policemen for the murder of Ranbir Singh, a resident of Ghaziabad on July 3, 2009. One of the tainted cops Jaspal Singh Gosain had got acquittal from the charges of murder and conspiracy, but was convicted for falsifying records.
