11- year- old raped by auto driver
An eleven- year- old mentally- challenged girl was allegedly raped by an autorickshaw driver in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Monday morning.
According to the police, the incident came to light when a police patrolling party spotted an abandoned autorickshaw parked along side the road. When the alert policemen started looking for the driver, they found him assaulting the girl near some bushes. He was immediately arrested and the girl was taken to the hospital where her medical examination was conducted. The identity of the girl is yet to be ascertained.
The police said that the cops heard the girl screaming which raised suspicion and they set out to look if there was something wrong.
The accused has been identified as Ram Ashish ( 35).
The police added that they informed all districts and are checking records to ascertain if any girl had gone missing recently.
A case under Section 376 and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences ( Pocso) has been registered at the Ghazipur police station. During interrogation, Ashish told the police that he saw the girl near the Anand Vihar Railway Station and asked her where she wanted to go. “As the girl told him that she wanted to go to Sarai Kale Khan, the driver asked her to sit in the auto on the pretext of dropping her,” added the cops.
