A 46- year- old man was stabbed to death by his son after an argument in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area on Sunday night.

According to the police, the father, identified as Gopal Tiwari, was scolding his son Vijendra Tiwari when the latter picked up a knife and attacked his father. “Gopal scolded his son for not having a job and not helping him in household work,” said the police, adding that “he had asked his son to pay the electricity bill which he didn’t pay on time.”

Gopal was a street hawker and he used to sell eggs. The family belongs to Bhagalpur district in Bihar but were living in Delhi for past some years

The police said that the accused also injured his mother when she tried to stop him. The injured woman was taken to a hospital and her condition was said to be stable. Vijendra was arrested late on Sunday night as he had escaped from the spot after the incident.

The police was informed about the incident by a neighbour.
