Wim­ble­don champ joins Navratilov­a


The 2013 Wim­ble­don cham­pion Mar­ion Bar­toli will join Martina Navratilov­a and Tracy Austin in the four- player field of the WTA Leg­ends event in Sin­ga­pore in Oc­to­ber, the Women’s Ten­nis As­so­ci­a­tion said on Mon­day.

The 29- year- old French star, a win­ner of eight sin­gles ti­tles, once ranked as high as seven in the world. She will be among the four leg­ends fea­tur­ing in the in­au­gu­ral Leg­ends tour­na­ment at the BNP Paribas WTA Fi­nals Sin­ga­pore be­tween Oc­to­ber 17 and 26 this year.

In ad­di­tion to cap­tur­ing Wim­ble­don 2013 with vic­tory over Sabine Lisicki in the fi­nal, Bar­toli reached the ti­tle match at the All Eng­land Club in 2007, de­feat­ing world no. 1 Jus­tine Henin in the semis be­fore fin­ish­ing run­ner- up to Venus Wil­liams.
